Stripped by BSF: Don`t hype issue, says Pranab
Government on Saturday said concerned authorities of the two countries would solve the problem through discussions and the issue should not be hyped.
Kolkata: Days after eight BSF jawans were suspended for allegedly stripping and beating a man along the Indo-Bangla border, government on Saturday said concerned authorities of the two countries would solve the problem through discussions and the issue should not be hyped.
"Such incidents take place at times and there is no use
blowing them up unnecessarily. The concerned authorities of
the two countries would solve the problem through
discussions", Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee told reporters
here.
He was asked whether the incident would have any adverse
impact on the relations between the two neighbouring
countries.
A nearly 5-minute video, showing a man being stripped, kicked and beaten by three to four personnel donning dark green fatigues worn by the BSF in West Bengal`s Murshidabad district along the Indo-Bangla border, was aired recently on some channels. The BSF had since suspended eight personnel.
