New Delhi: Australia pacer Josh Hazlewood has been rested for the remainder of the ODI and upcoming T20 series against India. Cricket Australia have decided to get the pacer back in action for the side's tour of New Zealand next month.

Australia have had a long summer at home with series against New Zealand, West Indies and now India. Hazlewood played all six Tests against New Zealand and West Indies respectively.

According to an official statement made by Cricket Australia, Hazlewood would not be sighted again to ensure he is fresh for the New Zealand series.

He also played the opening ODI against India in Perth before being rested for the second ODI in Brisbane on Friday.

John Hastings is likely to play again in the third ODI at the MCG. Australia are to select the squad for the remaining two ODIs after the clash on Sunday.

Asutralia coach Darren Lehmann had state dthat they have decided to give Hazlewood a break in order for him to recharge both phusically and mentally for the tour of NZ.

"Josh has played all six Tests this summer and has had a high workload," Australian coach Darren Lehmann said. "On that basis the decision has been made to give him a break to allow him to recharge both physically and mentally ahead of the tour of New Zealand.”
