New Delhi: Harmanpreet Kaur Bhullar on Friday become the first India Women's cricketer to be signed by a foreign T20 franchise.

Big Bash League's Sydney Thunder secured the services of the Indian for the high-profile tournament to be played in December-January.

BCCI cleared the women players to play in in overseas leagues earlier in June.

According to a report on ESPNCricinfo, India's vice-captain was offered a contract by two other teams as well.

Senior players captain Mithali Raj and fast bowler Jhulan Goswami last year were approached by Adelaide Strikers.

The Indian board however did not permit them to accept the offer and instructed them to play in the domestic women's T20 league, which was being televised for the first time.

BCCI recently introduced central contracts for 11 women players and has also adopted several reforms suggested by the  Lodha committee.
