`Daddy Cool` not a lift from `Death at a Funeral`: Producers

Mumbai: Producers Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria have denied press reports that their upcoming film `Daddy Cool` is a lift from English flick`Death at a Funeral`.In a statement issued here, the filmmaker duo clarified they have obtained due permission from the producers of the English movie to produce and release `Daddy Cool` across the world.

A spokesperson of BIG Pictures, the distributors, said it is releasing the film only after ascertaining the facts. Set to release on August 28, `Daddy Cool` is being produced by the two filmmakers under their banner Maruti Pictures and is directed by K Murli Mohan Rao, who has directed various films in Telugu and Hindi since 1983. The film has an ensemble star cast including Sunil Shetty, Aftab Shivdasani, Javed Jaffrey, Aarti Chhabria, Ashish Chowdhry, Tulip Joshi, Kim Sharma, Sophie Choudry, Rajpal Yadav, Chunky Pandey and Prem Chopra. Raghav Sachar has composed music for the film. `Death at a Funeral` is a black comedy on a funeral ceremony gone wrong. It follows the hillarious twists and turns in a British dysfunctional family, which gathers to mourn the death of a patriarch. Bureau Report
