New Delhi: India lost the first Twenty20 International against England on Thursday in Kanpur. It was a bad day in office for Team India, which had won the Test and ODI series against the visitors.

Defending a below-par total of 147 runs, India needed quick wickets. And Yuzvendra Chahal provided what the skipper needed, by removing Jason Roy and Sam Billings in the same over.

But the moment of the match was probably that wicket of Roy.

The England opener hit Chahal for a huge six, and was in a fine nick. The very next ball, Chahal beat Roy with low bounce and an inside edge bowled the batsman.

The spinner thus exacted his revenge. It was followed by Billings wicket, three balls latter. A similar delivery, and same result. Bowled.

Despite the double blow, England went onto win the match by seven wickets as skipper Eoin Morgan dropped the anchor with a fluent 51 off 38 balls.

He was ably supported by Joe Root, who remained not out in run-a-ball 46.

Second match of the series will be played in Nagpur on Sunday.
