Kochi: Kerala Inter School tournament, being organised by Kerala Cricket Association, will commence from Jan 10.
The tourney`s main objective is to give exposure for school children and a door opener for them to announce their presence in the cricketing scenario, KCA said in a press release here.
The tournament will be conducted in four different levels. The winners of each level are awarded with cash prises as well as cricketing gears.
Best performers are selected for cricket academies in each district to shape them as future cricketers. There are 21 cricket academies in the state comprising of 15 district academies, three state academies, two women academies and a senior academy. Trainees are offered top notch cricketing facilities along with free food and accommodation for developing their cricketing and behavioural aspects.
KCA school tournament 2012 is a stepping stone for every budding cricketer as their career path progresses from School tournament to district academy and then best performers are selected to the State Academies and from State Academy to Sr. State Academy and finally to College Academy which is in the pipeline. KCA’s main objective behind setting up these academies is nothing short of developing cricketers who could represent the country in the next five years.
KCA also helps schools to promote cricket at their schools by providing free infrastructure and coaching support.
