ASI shoot himself with service revolver
An assistant sub-inspector of police locked himself in a hotel room and shot himself dead with his service revolver.
Berhampur: An assistant sub-inspector of police locked himself in a hotel room and shot himself dead with his service revolver, in Odisha`s Ganjam district, the police said on Monday.
The ASI identified as RP Sethi, who was posted in Rayagada district, had checked into the hotel on Thursday and his room was found locked from inside since Saturday evening, inspector-in-charge of town police station SS Mohapatra said. Manager of the hotel informed the police yesterday after a foul smell began coming out from the room, he said.
When the door was broken open the ASI was found dead with gunshot wounds believed to have been inflicted with his service revolver, he said. Mohapatra said that the ASI might have killed himself on Saturday night.
The Rayagada police have been contacted for the investigation.
