Akhtar, who gave world-class batsmen sleepless nights with his deadly pace, seemed a bit emotional when he disclosed that the only thing he regretted in his career was playing under the leadership of legendary Pakistan skipper Imran Khan.

The 40-year-old, took to twitter to express his feelings.

Akhtar also feels that Imran, under who Pakistan won their maiden World Cup title, could have got the best out of him, had the all-rounder been his skipper.

During his playing days, Akhtar played under many Pakistani skippers, including the two greats – Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram.

Akhtar played 46 Tests and 163 ODIs for Pakistan and picked 178 and 247 wickets respectively.
