New Delhi: Harsha Bhogle's ouster from the Indian Premier League's commentary panel shifted the focus from cricketing matters during the opening week of the tournament.
While the veteran commentator is yet to hear from the BCCI, several theories are doing rounds with regards to reasons for his sacking.
While the heated exchange between Bhogle and a VCA official during India's WT20 match against New Zealand has been widely reported, some other incidents have not yet been dissected in detail.
According to a report in The Hindu on Thursday, there are some other factors that could have triggered the BCCI's decision.
An important BCCI unit, headed by an ex-India player, complained about Bhogle’s behavior during the tournament. Also a noted cricketer-commentator ‘declined’ to go on air with Bhogle.
The report also claims that two senior India cricketers had an argument with the broadcaster. One of them even confronted Harsha on a flight over the views expressed by him on air about the Men in Blue.
The other senior player intervened to cool down the tempers and then went on to complain about Bhogle to an influential BCCI functionary.
The BCCI is yet to open up about why it decided to terminate Bhogle's contract at the last minute, as cricketing community continues to look for answers.
