Umar Akmal omitted from T20 squad for attending dance party in Hyderabad: Reports

New Delhi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday issued a show cause notice to cricketer Umar Akmal for attending a ‘dance party’ in Hyderabad, as per the media reports.

The incident also cost the 25-year-old batsman a place in Pakistan's T20 squad for the series against England in the UAE.

The PCB was apparently responding to media reports that Akmal was allegedly involved in “immoral activities” during a party in a house in Hyderabad, where he was accompanied by the former Pakistan Under-19 captain Azeem Ghumman.

"Umar Akmal had been pencilled in for selection, but he has subsequently been dropped on instructions from the Board, as he has been issued with a show cause notice for bringing PCB and Pakistan Cricket into disrepute," Chief selector Haroon Rashid was quoted as saying by ESPN Cricinfo.

The selectors also shocked many by picking up uncapped 39-year-old Rafatullah Mohmand, who could open the batting for Pakistan.

Both team are scheduled to play two T20 matches on November 26,27 and 30.

Pakistan T20 squad: Ahmed Shehzad, Mohammad Hafeez, Rafatullah Mohmand, Shoaib Malik, Sohaib Maqsood, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shahid Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, Sarfraz Ahmed, Anwar Ali, Imad Wasim (Subject to fitness, otherwise Bilal Asif), Imran Khan, Mohammad Irfan, Sohail Tanvir, Wahab Riaz, Aamer Yamin
