New Delhi: Bangladesh scripted a new record in their cricket history after reaching their first ever ICC Global Event semi-final after beating Asian neighbours Nepal in the quarter-final of the U19 World Cup on Friday.
The hosts have played some brilliant cricket at home and are two games away from winning a historic ICC event.
Bangladesh chased down Nepal's score of 211/9 with ease in 48.2 overs and won the game by four wickets. Skipper Zakir Hasan led from the front with a match-winning knock of unbeaten 75 runs and Mehedi Hasan Miraz was there to support him with a well made 55*.
Bangladesh knew they would be tested in a crucial tie and passed the test relatively with ease. In the 2015 ICC World Cup, senior Bangladesh side had reached the quarters and this time the juniors bettered the achievement.
Senior Bangladesh international cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim congratulated the team and even former Sri Lanka cricketer Russel Arnold too took to Twitter to wish Bangladesh.
Congratulations to Bangladesh U'19 team! Way to go boys!! 2 more wins to being champions! pic.twitter.com/cIAnK7E0rA
