New Delhi: Thibaut Coutois is fast emerging as not just Premier League's but also as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
With a string of consistent performances between the posts for Chelsea, the Belgian has truly been of the Jose Mourinho's star performers this season.
The 22-year-old arrived on the world stage after he had a stunning season while on loan at Atletico Madrid. He not only won the La Liga with Diego Simeone's side, but also was instrumental in helping the side finish runners-up in the Champions League.
The Belgian also proved his mettle on the biggest stage in world football with a solid performance for his country at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil last year.
Mourinho was quick to call the youngster back to Chelsea after he completed his loan spell. Not just that, the Portuguese manager made Courtois the club's new number one ahead of veteran Petr Cech.
After displacing Chelsea's long-time number one keeper, Courtois has not put a foot wrong. He had not taken time to adjust to the requirements of the league like David De Gea.
With man-of-the-match performances against Liverpool in both legs of the League Cup tie, he has now cemented his place as one Chelsea's most important players.
Interestingly, the great goalkeepers like Iker Casillas, Gianluigi Buffon and Petr Cech have all arrived at the fag end of their careers.
It is now time for a new set of keepers to take on that mantle and there is little doubt Thibaut Courtois leader of the new generation of goalkeepers.
