Barasat: Young Debjit Majumder once again proved his worth under the bar as Mohun Bagan had to settle for a goalless draw against a spirited Shillong Lajong FC at the Vidyasagar Krirangan here on Wednesday.

Mohun Bagan had their best chance in the second-half but their Haitian recruit Sony Norde's 75th minute freekick hit the crosspiece to break their hearts as they had to settle for one point.

The green and maroon brigade, however, remained atop the standings, unbeaten so far and with a three point lead over defending champions Bengaluru FC (22) with two matches in hand.

The Shillong outfit that routed Mumbai FC 6-0 in their last outing occupied eighth place with 11 points from as many matches.

The visitors also looked threatening and had a brilliant chance to snap Mohun Bagan's unbeaten run in the 78th minute but Cornell Glen pulled his shot wide after Majumder was caught in no man's land.

The Northeast outfit started dominating the show and had their first real chance in the 20th minute but Majumder came in the way as the young Mohun Bagan custodian thwarted many Shillong attempts to keep their slate clean.

But it was a transformed Mohun Bagan after the break as they came out all guns blazing and created some real good chances.

Durga Boro fouled Katsumi Yusa in the middle of the park and Norde stepped up to take the freekick but crosspiece came in the way of Mohun Bagan's win.
