New Delhi: Former England and Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand voiced his opinion on English players being too overpriced by claiming it is a joke. English youngsters Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling are the subject of transfer interests this summer and their values are worth GBP 40m and 50m respectively.

Ferdinand feels the duo have potential but the sum to price them away is ridiculous. Proven international stars Sergio Aguero and Alexis Sanchez cost lower than Kane and Sterling and that shows English players are highly overpriced.

Ferdinand expressed his views on social micro-bloggigng site, Twitter.

Manchester City have made two bids for Sterling worth GBP 30m and 40m respectively but Liverpool have rejected both offers. According to reports in the newspapers in UK, a GBP 50m bid could see Sterling move to Manchester.

On the other hand Harry Kane who had a dream season for Tottenham Hotspur last term, has got the interest of Manchester United who could bid a staggering amount of GBP 40m in order to lure him to Old Trafford.

Another England international Jack Wilshere who has had a injury ravaged career so far is wanted by Manchester City who are plotting a GBP 40m move for the Arsenal midfielder.
