London Olympics Tennis: Goerges stuns Radwanska under Wimbledon roof

Germany`s Julia Goerges Sunday upset World No. 2 Agnieszka Radwanska in first Olympics tennis match to be played indoors.

London: Germany`s Julia Goerges Sunday upset World No. 2 Agnieszka Radwanska in first Olympics tennis match to be played indoors.
Rain over Wimbledon caused the roof to be closed on Centre Court and Goerges, ranked 24th in the world, snatched victory 7-5, 6-7(5), 6-4 with an aggressive if sometimes erratic approach. Recording 56 winners to Radwanska`s 24, and 20 aces to the Pole`s eight, Goerges still faced strong resistance from Radwanska when it mattered, with the world No. 2 saving three set points in the first set and holding her nerve on the tiebreak in the second. Radwanska seemed likely to take the match in the deciding set when she went 3-1 up, but Goerges broke her serve twice on the way to victory. IANS
