Jagannath, Sukanya shine in Indira Gandhi marathon

Pune long-distance runner Jagannath took less than two and a half hour to win the 25th Indira Gandhi Prize Marathon.

Indira Gandhi Prize Marathon, an annual event organised on the birth anniversary of the former prime minister. Jagannath was closely followed by Patel G V of Jabalpur, while fellow Pune runner Virendra Kumar came third. Among the women participants, last year`s winner Sukanya Mall of Deoria, UP recorded her second straight victory. Local girl Anisa Devi finished runner-up while Manipur`s Ibo Dhoi Devi San Sam stood third. Athletes from across the country participate in the marathon organised by the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCA). The prize money for both the male and female winners is Rs 1,01,000, Rs 50,000 for the second and Rs 20,000 for the third position respectively. Bureau Report
