Jammu to have full-fledged 18-hole Golf course soon

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said that Jammu will soon have a full-fledged 18-hole golf course at Sidhra as the existing nine-hole one is being upgraded.

Speaking at the concluding function of Greater Kashmir Golf Tournament here this evening, the chief minister said that golf is gaining popularity and the state is emerging as a big attraction for golfers of the country and outside. He said golf courses at Srinagar, Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Jammu and upcoming one at Leh are unique golf locations in the world providing golfers the opportunity of playing in different climatic and geographical conditions. Omar said his government is committed on promoting sports and adventure tourism in the state. He said young talent in the state in different sports are being provided opportunities to excel and make name in the sports arena at national and international levels. Omar Abdullah praised Greater Kashmir group of newspapers and its chairman Fayaz Ahmad Kaloo for organising series of golf tournaments in the state to encourage and rope in golfers from all across the country and outside to participate in these events. He expressed hope that the Greater Kashmir Group of Newspapers will continue to contribute in this field in future and strengthen the efforts being made to make J&K a world class golfers resort.
