US Open: Can Venus Williams shatter Serena Williams' historic calendar slam dream?

New Delhi: The Williams sisters share one of the most talked-about sibling rivalries in the history of sports and as they lock horns in the quarter-final of the US Open 2015, it remains to be seen whether the elder sister Venus can shatter Serena's dreams of a calendar slam.

They have been up against each other on four occasions at the US Open, with two wins apiece.

At 35, Venus is making a record 17th appearance here at the final major of the year.

Meanwhile, Serena, 33, is now three wins from completing the first calendar Grand Slam since Steffi Graf in 1988.

While Serena overcame the powerful winners of compatriot Madison Keys to win her last match 6-3, 6-3, she will definitely have to come up with a better show against Venus, someone who knows her game better than any other opponent.

In her previous encounter, Venus hammered Annett Kontaveit in no time and won the match 6-2, 6-1.

Post her win against Keys, even though Serena said, "At least one Williams will be in the semis,” she would be gutted if Venus manages to stop her from grabbing a slice of history.
