In a swift and coordinated humanitarian response, the Indian Army has deployed a specialized contingent to Sri Lanka under Operation Sagar Bandhu, reinforcing India’s commitment to stand by the Sri Lankan people in their hour of need. The contingent comprises dedicated medical, engineering, and signals components equipped to provide immediate and sustained relief.

The IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for heavy rain across 17 Karnataka districts due to the weakening Cyclone Ditwah remnant. Bengaluru will see light to moderate showers, cooler temperatures (Min 18°C), and mist until December 5.  

Cyclone Ditwah: Sri Lanka has reported at least 410 deaths and 336 missing due to heavy rains, flooding, and landslides triggered by Cyclone Ditwah.

Chennai weather today: Schools and colleges in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, and Kancheepuram are closed today (Dec 3) due to the Cyclone Ditwah remnant and the ongoing IMD Orange Alert for heavy rainfall and waterlogging.  

The Indian Army announced the deployment of an Integrated Task Force — a high-readiness, self-contained composite HADR contingent — to provide critical relief, restore essential services, and support families in Sri Lanka impacted by Cyclone Ditwah.

Chennai School Holiday On December 2: Three people died in rain-related incidents caused by Cyclone Ditawh in Tamil Nadu, state Disaster Management Minister K K S S R Ramachandran said on Sunday. Chennai school holiday on December 2 was announced amid the forecasts of heavy rain triggered by Cyclone Ditwah.

Cyclone Ditwah Tracker Live: The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Indian Air Force (IAF) have carried out extensive rescue and relief operations across several parts of Sri Lanka following the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah. Authorities in Tamil Nadu have announced a school holiday for Chennai on December 2 (Tuesday). 

Cyclone Ditwah: Schools will remain closed today in Nellore and Annamayya districts of Andhra Pradesh. Meanwhile, at least 334 people have lost their lives, and 370 others are still missing as Cyclone Ditwah wreaked havoc in Sri Lanka. 

Cyclone Ditwah: India launched 'Operation Sagar Bandhu' to aid Sri Lanka following the devastation triggered by Cyclone Ditwah. In addition, the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka set up an additional emergency helpline to support distressed Indian citizens in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka has been experiencing relentless rain, flash floods and landslides due to Cyclone Ditwah and the resulting weather system. 

Cyclone Ditwah: Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake declared a state of emergency on Saturday and appealed for international help. Meanwhile, the IMD has issued a red alert for the north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts. 

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has forecast that intense downpour would be largely confined to northern Tamil Nadu on Sunday, before rainfall and surface winds begin to gradually ease from Monday. 

Cyclone Ditwah: The death toll from severe weather triggered by Cyclone Ditwah in Sri Lanka has risen to 153, while at least 191 people remain missing. The IMD on Sunday issued a red alert for the north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts.
