A huge consignment of drugs has been caught off Gujarat waters. A Pakistani boat has been caught with 40 kg of drugs. Taking a big action, Coast Guard and ATS of Gujarat have caught 6 people along with the boat.

Indian Coast Guard saves all 12 crew members of MV Kanchan
The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has said that all the 12 crew of the cargo ship MV Kanchan, off Gujarat, have been rescued. The ship had been dead in the water after contamination in the fuel leaving its engine defunct and the vessel without power supply.

IMD has predicted that the Cyclone Tauktae will touch the Gujarat coast in the evening with a speed gusting to 185 kmph. It lay centred over east-central Arabian Sea, about 260 km southeast of Veraval (Gujarat) at 8:30 AM on May 17.

Cyclone Tauktae: Mumbai shuts airport as city faces heavy rainfall
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport has issued an order stating that the operations at the airport shall remain closed from 11 am to 2 pm today in view of Cyclone Tauktae. The IMD had also informed the BMC that Mumbai is not in the direct line of the threat of the cyclone. However, as it will pass through the sea near the Mumbai coast, its effect is likely to be accompanied by rain and strong winds.

Cyclone Tauktae: NDRF teams on standby, heavy rainfall alert issued in states
Over 1.5 lakh people were evacuated from low-lying areas along the western coast as a powerful Cyclone Tauktae is expected to make landfall in Gujarat by Monday. Tauktae has now become a “very severe cyclonic storm" and is likely to intensify even further in the next 24 hours. At least six people have lost their lives, hundreds of houses were damaged, trees and electricity poles were uprooted in the coastal areas.
