MHA issues notice to Bangladeshi student, who allegedly took part in anti-CAA protest, to leave India

The protest took place on January 8 and Left-wing students of Vishva-Bharti University held a protest in front of the Vishva Bharti's central office. Anika is a first-year student of Silpa Sadan. On the basis of this, the MHA sent a letter to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) asking Anika to leave the country within 15 days.

There are a total of 970 people in these detention centres of which 646 are males and 324 females, added the MHA sources. Women and men are kept in separate rooms and are given basic facilities. There have been no reports on incidents of rape of women. People are allowed to visit these centres to meet their acquaintances, further stated the MHA sources.

Centre has approved eight medical colleges in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh: Ministry of Home Affairs

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy informed that eight medical colleges are currently under various stages of implementation and they will be constructed in the districts of Doda, Kathua, Baramulla, Anantnag, Rajouri, Udhampur, Handwara in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the district of Leh in the Union Territory of Ladakh.

I-T Act empowers Centre to monitor any information in interest of India's sovereignty: MHA

"Section 69 of the Information Technology Act, 2000 empowers the Central Government or a State Government to intercept, monitor or decrypt or cause to be intercepted or monitored or decrypted, any information generated, transmitted, received or stored in any computer resource in the interest of the sovereignty or integrity of India, security of the State, friendly relations with foreign States or public order or for preventing incitement to the commission of any cognizable offence relating to above or for investigation of any offence," MHA replied.

Kartarpur corridor to see movement of people by November 11: MHA

Addressing the press, MHA Additional Secretary Govind Mohan, said that there are three works that are part of India's Kartarpur corridor project. Firstly, an extra highway of 3.5 km being made from the Gurdaspur-Batala highway till the border point will be completed by October 31. He added that 70 per cent of it has been completed.
