On November 14, explosive material seized during forensic testing exploded at the Nowgam police station near Srinagar. Nine people, including police and forensic personnel, were killed and more than 30 were injured.
The Chief Minister said he had taken up the matter of the recent unearthing of a white-collar terrorist module in the Northern Zonal Council meeting held a day earlier, highlighting the growing concern over stereotyping.
Initial investigations suspected that a liquid mixture of hydrogen peroxide and acetophenone, or potentially excessive lighting used by the forensic team for the examination, triggered the volatile materials.
J&K LG Manoj Sinha ordered a probe into the 'accidental' Nowgam police station blast, which killed 9, including an SIA officer. LG Sinha said he is "deeply anguished" by the tragic loss.
