US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday warned senior Chinese officials. US stated that China's activities in places like Xinjiang, Hong Kong and Taiwan, as well as its cyberattacks on the US threaten the rules-based order. US warned Beijing of respecting global order or facing a ‘more violent world’.
Washington is keen on a six-country meet, including India, on Afghanistan even as it reviews its strategy for the country. In a letter to Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, the US secretary of state Antony Blinken has outlined several ways "to move matter more fundamentally and quickly towards a settlement".
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will visit India next week for the 2+2 dialogue between the two countries to be held on October 26-27 in New Delhi. The dialogue will take place between the defence and foreign ministers of the nations. Seeking to build close ties amid an ongoing conflict with China, India and the US are expected to sign the BECA for geospatial cooperation during the dialogue.
Mike Pompeo warned US politicians at the state and local level to be vigilant around Chinese diplomats. He said they could be trying to woo them as part of Beijing`s propaganda and espionage campaign. Pompeo said the State Department was reviewing the activities of the US-China Friendship Association and the China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will likely travel to New York on Thursday to seek a return of all UN sanctions on Iran and meet with UN Secretary-General. To trigger a return of the sanctions, the US will submit a complaint to the UNSC about Iran`s non-compliance with the nuclear deal. Pompeo will likely meet with Indonesia`s UN Ambassador Dian Triansyah Djani, the Security Council president for August, to submit the complaint, diplomats said.
Pompeo expressed, "Iran remains the world’s largest state sponsor of terror, and to have access to weapons systems and commerce and money flowing from the Chinese Communist Party only compounds that risk for that region." He also said that the world has witnessed more examples of the Chinese Communist Party's efforts to coerce and control its citizens including the arrests of pro-democracy activists in Hong Kong and the control Muslim minorities in Xinjiang.
