Class XI student tries to rape 12-year-old girl, arrested

GREATER NOIDA: A class 11 student of a Greater Noida school was arrested by the police on Tuesday for kidnapping and allegedly trying to rape a class 6 student of the same school.

The accused student held the 12-year-old victim captive in a stable, informed Jewar police. 

"On the complaint of a relative of the victim, the accused boy has been arrested," said Jewar police station SHO Rajpal Singh Tomar.

On Sunday afternoon, the victim had gone to market for shopping.

The accused, also a minor, was her neighbour. He forced the victim to come home and held her captive in a stable meant for animals, said the police official.

On Monday, when the parents of the victim lodged a missing complaint, following which the accused set her free.

After reaching home, the victim narrated the incident and further alleged that the boy tried to rape her.

An FIR has been lodged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) under relevant sections related to kidnapping and attempt to rape.

The accused has been sent to a remand home, said the police.
