Mathura: In a barbaric instance of atrocity, a woman's hands were forcibly burned by her in-laws after asking her to prove fidelity and loyality in a bizzare manner.

The woman, a resident of Mathura, was accused of adultery by her husbands and in-laws. 

“They used to thrash me and falsely accuse me of adultery. They also called me a liar,” the woman told ANI.

According to unconfirmed reports, the women was taken to the village panchayat where another woman, who practised black magic, was present. She took over the panchayat proceedings and ordered the couple to hold burning embers in their hand. The one will the 'pure soul' won't burn her hands and will pass the test.

The husband reportedly held the embers and quickly passed it on to someone else. During the woman's turn, the in-laws allegedly forced her to hold the embers in her palm for a long time. The husband also pressed the woman's palms as she held the embers.

"Case registered. Strict action will be taken," said Mant police station.
