Yogi Adityanath talks tough, says 'those who support criminals have option of leaving UP'

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath sent out a strong message to criminals and anti-social elements on Sunday.

Gorakhpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath sent out a strong message on Sunday to criminals and anti-social elements in the state and said that there was no place for those who gave patronage to the goonda elements and mafia.

"There is no place for those who give patronage to the goonda elements, mafia, criminal and other rogue elements. They have the option of leaving UP or else they would land in places designated for them," he said.

He also said, "I would like to assure that in the next two months, people would come to know how a state government should work. I have got an opportunity to clean-up the mess and I will do it," as per PTI.

The UP CM pointed out that for the past few years UP had been defined as a state from whose boundaries "begins darkness, from where the pot-holed roads begin and the place from where the women start to feel insecure."

"I was to break this mindset," he said.

At the same time, Yogi advised his ministers to be accessible to the public.

"The doors of your house and office must remain open to the public. This would ensure that the government is able to reach to the last person of the society," he said.

Moreover, the UP CM made it clear that those who were prepared to work for 18-20 hours a day were "most welcome" to join him, the rest were free to leave.

Yesterday, on his first visit to his hometown Gorakhpur after becoming the CM, Yogi had said that he intended to usher in development and progress of all sections of the state as envisaged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah.

Addressing an event to felicitate him, he had repeated the mantra of 'sabka saath, sabka vikas'.

"There would be no discrimination on the basis of caste, religion or gender. There will be development of all. But there will not be any appeasement of any section," he had said.

He had also stated that police had been instructed not to harass innocent couples, a direction that comes amid complaints that the 'anti-romeo' squads, meant to target eve- teasers, were troubling even the boys seen with their female friends.

Yogi, who took over as UP CM last Sunday, had talked about his priorities like safety of women, opportunities for youth, support for farmers and labour.
