In terms of car sales in India, Maruti Suzuki firmly holds the top position, while Tata Motors has been contending with Hyundai for the second spot.
Hyundai is the second-largest car-selling company in India, followed by Tata Motors. In May 2024, Hyundai sold 63,551 units, against 59,601 units in May 2023.
Domestic dispatch of vehicles to dealers saw 1% rise to 49,151 units last month from 48,601 units in the year-ago period.
Exports grew 31 per cent in May to 14,400 units, as compared with 11,000 units in the year-ago period.
SUVs continue to be a growth driver for HMIL, accounting for more than 67 per cent of domestic sales last month, HMIL COO Tarun Garg said.
In the passenger vehicle segment, the Tata Motors sales stood at 47,075 units in May 2024, in the domestic market.
Tata Motors recorded 2% rise in total wholesales at 76,766 units in May as compared with 74,973 units in the same month last year.
