Ashwin, along with his dad is a huge movie buff. Whenever a new movie is released, both of them go to the Sathyam Cinema in Chennai to watch it.
Ashwin is now a fantastic cricket player but his initial interest was in football. However, in a crucial penalty in one game, he chose to use his head rather than his feet because he didn't want to damage his leather shoes. His football career came to an end at that point, and cricket was ready to take its place.
