Lala Amarnath, Deepak Shodhan, AG Kripal Singh, Abbas Ali Baig, Hanumant Singh, Gundappa Viswanath, Surinder Amarnath have all scored tons on Test debuts.
Since 1980s, 10 Indians have scored ton on Test debut. Mohammad Azharuddin is first of them, who scored one in a Test vs England in 1984.
Amra scored 103 vs South Africa in 1992 which was his debut Test.
Ganguly also slammed a ton on debut, scoring 131 vs England in 1996.
Sehwag slammed a ton on Test debut too, scoring 105 vs South Africa in 2001.
Raina also scored a ton on Test debut, slamming 120 vs Sri Lanka in 2010.
Dhawan slammed a Test ton in just his first innings, scoring 187 vs Australia in 2013.
India captain had also scored a ton in the first Test. He scored 177 vs West Indies in 2013.
Shaw scored 134 vs West Indies in 2018, which was his first innings of debut Test.
Shreyas slammed 105 on Test debut vs New Zealand in 2021.
India’s Test opener also scored ton on debut. He did it vs WI in 1st innings of 1st Test in 2023.
