The second test between India vs Bangladesh will begin on September 27, Friday.
In Test matches between India and Bangladesh, Ashwin needs just three more wickets to surpass Zaheer Khan's 31-wicket total and take the record for most wickets taken by a bowler.
With four more wickets, Ashwin would surpass Josh Hazlewood as the top wicket-taker in the current WTC cycle with 52 wickets.
Ashwin is currently the most successful Indian wicket-taker in the fourth innings of a Test match. He will become the first Indian bowler to reach 100 wickets in the final innings, and only the sixth bowler overall, if he takes one more wicket in the fourth innings.
Ashwin needs to take eight more wickets to surpass Nathan Lyon, the Australian spinner, as the highest wicket-taker in World Test Championship history. At the moment, Ashwin is in second place with 180, behind Lyon on 187.
With 37 wickets, Ashwin currently shares the second-highest total in Test history with the legendary Australian Shane Warne. With one more fifer, Ashwin would be in second place.
Ashwin (522) needs nine more wickets to move up to seventh place on the all-time list of Test cricket's highest wicket-takers, surpassing Lyon (530).
