He had shared with media houses his struggle in childhood as his family, though initially financially stable, started having issues when his dad's business started suffering losses. A Times Of India report says his family, at one time, had difficulties paying his school fees.
According to reports, Munawar's home was destroyed in the Gujarat riots of 2022.
Munawar's YouTube channel was launched in 2020.
In 2021, the comedian spent over a month in jail following the filing of complaints that he had hurt religious sentiments with his remarks on Hindu deities during a stand-up show.
In a media interview, Munawar had said that he won't wish a jail term for even his worst enemies and that the food in jail was pathetic.
Munawar was subsequently granted bail by the Supreme Court of India, after spending 37 days in jail.
Munawar has a son who is five years with his ex-wife whom he divorced in 2022.
Munawar was dating social media influencer Nazila Sitaishi but Bigg Boss 17 saw intense scrutiny of his relationships, with reports coming out of his cheating on her. Sitaishi broke up with him on Instagram Live, when Munawar was inside the Bigg Boss house.
Munawar had also won the Kangana Ranaut hosted show Lock Upp Season 1.
