The character of Tun Tun mausi from Chota Bheem has a special place in every child’s heart. But do you know, the interesting feature from the very famous cartoon is inspired by a real-life character?
This particular character of Tun Tun from Chota Bheem was inspired by Uma Devi, the first ever woman comedian of Hindi films.
Tun Tun’s whole family was murdered because of a land dispute and she was orphaned at a young age.
Uma had a really tough childhood where her relatives treated her more like a servant than a family member.
Uma found comfort in music and dreamt of becoming a playback singer and therefore ran to Bombay where she met Nuashad Ali.
Uma sung her first song in 1947 and went on to sing 45 songs in her career.
When Uma’s singing career went on declining, Naushad Ali launched her as a ‘comedian’ with the stage name ‘Tun Tun’ and she rapidly became one of the most popular comedians of Bollywood.
Breaking the stereotype of dark complexion and fat body, Uma did almost 200 films and retired from the industry in 1980’s.
The very famous comedian Uma aka ‘Tun Tun’ died in a very poor condition where she couldn’t afford to eat.
