Turmeric

Turmeric or Haldi (commonly called in Hindi) is used as a colouring and flavouring agent in many Asian dishes. Curcumin, a yellow chemical produced is by the turmeric plant which is a powerful antioxidant. Turmeric is an allergen and has many medicinal properties.

Mint

Mint is used in many forms - be it leafy, fresh or dried. Mint was originally used as a medicinal herb to treat stomach ache and chest pains. May be helpful to some in improving Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

Ginger

Ginger is widely used as a spice, while preparing tea and as a folk medicine. It has an anti-inflammatory effect, and improves digestive function, as per studies.

Garlic

Coriander leaves are particularly rich in vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin K, with moderate content of dietary minerals. It may be effective in promoting healthy vision, boost immunity and keep your skin healthy due to essential vitamins.

It is used for its aromatic flavour qualities. People allergic to clove must be careful not to consume it. However, Cloves are used in essential oils, which are used as an anodyne (analgesic) mainly for dental emergencies. Clove oil containing eugenol is effective for toothache pain.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is used mainly as an aromatic condiment and flavouring additive in a wide variety of cuisines. It is seen as a traditional medicine helpful in digestive aid. It keeps blood sugar levels low, some reports suggest.

Basil

Basil is commonly used fresh in recipes. Dried basil is also used while cooking at times. It has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and other components.

Asafoetida

Asafoetida or Hing as we call it, has the most strong and powerful smell once mixed with other herbs while cooking. It is believed to be effective in treating stomach aches, bronchitis, weak digestion and influenza.
