Sickle cell easily break apart and die. Usually red blood cell live for about 120 days, however sickle cell only have life span of 10 to 20 days. This cause the shortage of red blood cells. This is known as anemia.

Red blood cells provide the oxygen and nutrients to the body which are essential for growth. This disease can slow the growth in children and can delay puberty in teenagers.

Vision Problem

Tiny Blood Vessels that supply blood to the eyes can become plugged with sickle cells. This can damage the retina and can lead to vision problem
