The emergence of the JN.1 sub-variant of COVID-19 has caused concerns across the country.
WHO has mentioned that the "current vaccines continue to protect against severe disease and death from JN.1 and other circulating variants of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19."
India has so far confirmed 21 cases of the JN.1 Covid variant.
India on December 21 recorded 594 fresh COVID-19 infections - taking the number of active cases from 2,311 the previous day to 2,669, according to Union Health Ministry data.
As per medical experts, we need to be cautious, but we don't need to worry because we don't have any data to suggest that this variant JN.1 is more severe or it's going to cause more pneumonia, more death.
Avoid being in a very closed environment with very poor ventilation. Start wearing masks. Try to be in an open space. Visit hospitals in case of symptoms.
