Keeping kids hydrated during the summer is important as they are at a higher risk of becoming dehydrated due to the hot weather and increased activity.

Encourage Drinking Water

Encourage your child to drink water throughout the day, especially when they are playing outside. Provide them with a water bottle that they can refill.

Offer Fruits

Fruits such as watermelon, oranges, strawberries, and grapes have a high water content and can help keep your child hydrated.

Avoid Sugary Drinks

Avoid sugary drinks such as soda, sports drinks, and fruit juices, as they can actually dehydrate your child.

Frozen Treats

Freeze water or fruit juice in ice cube trays or popsicle moulds to create a refreshing treat that will also hydrate your child.

Take Breaks

Encourage your child to take breaks and rest in the shade during outdoor activities, especially during the hottest part of the day.

Monitor Urine Colour

Monitor your child's urine color. Dark yellow urine can be a sign of dehydration, while clear or pale yellow urine is a sign of good hydration.
