Ockhi from the Arabian Sea affected mainland India along with coastal areas of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat. The cyclone took away 245 lives.

A cyclone that made landfall over Cuddalore in December and caused massive damage in Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka. The storm killed nearly 200 people.

Cyclone BOB 03 – 2002

A severe cyclone that hit West Bengal on November 12, causing 173 deaths.

Cyclone Hudhud – 2014

A fierce tropical cyclone that devastated Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. Visakhapatnam or Vizag and Odisha bore the brunt of Hudhud’s fury. The cyclone calimed at least 124 lives.

Cyclone Nilam – 2012

The worst cyclone to hit South India since Cyclone Jal in 2010. It struck near Mahabalipuram on October 31 as a powerful cyclone with peak winds of 85 km/h (50 mph). The cyclone claimed 75 lives.

Cyclone Pyarr – 2005

A rare cyclone that moved from northeast to southwest in September in the Bay of Bengal and crashed into Kalingapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. It claimed 65 livess in Andhra and Odisha.

Cyclone Fani (2019)

An extremely severe cyclone that slammed into Odisha in May and killed over 40 people.
