Capt. Vikram Batra

Captain Batra was born in an average middle class family on September 9, 1974 in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh and was nicknamed Sher Shah. He became the Captain on July 1, 1999 and was allotted the task to capture point 5140.

‘Ye Dil Mange More’

‘Dil Mange More’ was his iconic dialogue after capturing point on June 20. He was awarded the highest military honor ‘Param Vir Chakra’ postmortal.

Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey

Mr. Pandey was born in a middle class family on June 25, 1975 in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh. In his lifetime, the captain was stubborn for two things, one for a flute when he was 3 and second to be part of the army.

‘Chodna Mat’

When Manoj was asked in the interview about his purpose to join army, he responded with a willful eyes to receive a Param Vir Chakra which he did. He was charged to clear Jubar Top with his team, even when shot on the head his last words ‘Chodna Mat’ showed his responsibility towards his country.

Naib Subedar Yogendra Singh Yadav

Subedar Yadav was born in Aurangabad, Village of Uttar Pradesh and was commissioned in the army’s 18 Grenadiers regiment at a very young age.

Shot 18 Bullets

Mr. Yogendra was part of the Ghatak commando task to capture three bunkers on Tiger Hill. On the morning of July 4, 1999 when the platoon reached at a height of 16,500 feet, My Yadav was open fired with a machine gun. Carrying 18 bullets in his body, he shot many terrorists and vacated the top alone.

Rifleman Sanjay Kumar

Mr. Kumar was born in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh and was a part of Jammu and Kashmir Rifles. He was tasked to capture Area Flat Top with his team. (Image: Gallantry Awards)

One Man Army

Sanjay with his platoon when reached the top of the cliff faced a machine gun 150 meters away. Showing his bravery he crawled all alone towards a bunker, though hit on chest and forearms, he killed three soldiers in a hand to hand combat and motivated other teammates with his bravery to capture the top.
