Nalanda University

This is one of the largest ancient universities in the world. It is located in Rajgir, Bihar. It had over 10,000 students and 1,500 teachers from different countries and religions

Takshashila University

This is one of India’s oldest universities. It is located in Taxila, Gandhara, in present-day Punjab Pakistan.

Somapura University

It is located in Naogaon, Bangladesh. The university flourished for almost 400 years till the 12th century. Out of the 27 acres of land covered by the university, 21 acres was the main complex only.

Vikramshila University

Vikramashila University is one of the Buddhist universities. It is located in Bhagalpur District of Bihar. It was one of the largest Buddhist universities, with more than one hundred teachers and about one thousand students

Vallabhi University

This is one of the prominent universities in India. It is in Bhavnagar, Gujarat. It had more than 6000 students and 400 teachers. Vallabhi was comparable to the education provided at Nalanda University

Ratnagiri University

It is located on a hill in between the Brahmani and Birupa rivers in Jajpur district of Odisha. It is close to other Buddhist sites in the area, including Lalitagiri and Udayagiri.

Odantapuri University:

This was one of the oldest universities in ancient India. It was located in the state of Bihar. Odantapuri had roughly twelve thousand pupils at its peak in the eighth century, according to Tibetan accounts
