The founder of Lok Janshakti Party Ram Vilas Paswan was also imprisoned during emergency. He became MLA for the first time in 1969. He later served as Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Minerals, Railways, Chemicals and Fertilizers and Consumer Affairs.
The current Chief Minister of Bihar was also imprisoned in 1976. He emerged as a prominent leader after the emergency and founded the Samata Party with George Fernandes in 1994. Samata party was later merged with Janata Dal (United) in 2003.

The founder of Samajwadi Party was very vocal during the time of the emergency. He later served as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Defense Minister of India. Mulayam Sing Yadav was the member of Janata Dal when it was formed after the emergency.
LK Advani was the founding member of Bhartiya Janata Party. He played a crucial role in bringing down Congress undefeatable government in Gujarat. He was also imprisoned for raising his voice against emergency.
He was jailed for 18 months for protesting against emergency. He criticized Indira Gandhi for imposing emergency through his poems. He later become the Prime Minister of India.
Popularly known as Loknayak, Jaiprakash Narayan was imprisoned for opposing Indira Gandhi's Emergency. He was the prominent leader behind the students movement in Bihar against the misrule and corruption in the state government.
