The nearest central rail station is Katpadi Junction, which provides excellent train service to Vellore. Many trains pass through Katpadi and stop there for an average of 10 to 20 minutes.
Certain trains halt at Vellore Cantonment instead of Katpadi, which is a lot closer to Vellore Hospital. Keep in mind that the typical duration of a train stoppage is limited to 3 to 5 minutes.
The station has been modified to accommodate patient requirements and has a ramp and a staircase to access different platforms with overhead bridges.
Direct entry to the bus, car and taxi stands outside the station is made possible by these ramps.
At the station, wheelchairs are also accessible for complimentary use. Although they are controlled by a porter (cooli), you can schedule a service delivery to the auto stand outside with them.
Exit the railway station and look for the bus stand located on the right-hand side of the station exit. Take a bus headed towards Vellore. Most buses will stop at CMC Vellore as it is a popular destination.
If you prefer to travel by taxi, you can book one in advance through various online platforms or directly approach the taxi stand for a rental located near the railway station exit.
If you want to fly, Chennai's main airport is the closest. You can also travel into Tirupati, which has an international airport, as an alternative.
The distance between Katpadi Junction and CMC Vellore is about 8 km, and the journey takes around 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic.
Once you reach CMC Vellore, follow the instructions given by the hospital staff and doctors for a smooth treatment experience.
