Mir Osman Ali Khan was the Nizam of Hyderabad ruled from 1911 to 1948 and known for his wealth in India and around the world.
The total net worth of Hyderabad’s Nizam Osman Ali was evaluated to be 17.47 lakh crore rupees ($230 Billion) after recovering from inflation.
In 1937 Osman Ali was labeled as ‘World’s Richest Man’ on the cover of Time Magazine.
The 185-carat, fifth largest Jacob diamond worth rupees 1340 crores rested in all royalty on Nizam’s table as he used it as a paperweight.
It is also believed that the diamond which was equal to the size of an ostrich egg was found in the old socks of his father, Mahbub Ali Pasha Khan.
The rats once ate Nizam’s notes worth 300 euro kept in a trunk and he referred to this huge loss as a petty amount.
Currently the expensive diamond is kept at the Reserve Bank of India vaults in Mumbai.
Till 1956 Nizam was the president of the state. Later he accepted the advice of the elected assembly and retired with 3 wives, 200 children, 300 servants and a private army.
