Sheena Rani: Woman Scientist Behind Agni-5 Missile Test

Sheena ,who previously worked at ISRO’S Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre , joined DRDO as a lateral entry in 1999 after the Pokhran -II nuclear tests. She has remained actively engaged in the Agni missile program (Image :ANI)

She pursued her education at the College of Engineering in Thiruvananthapuram. Sheena Rani holds a degree in electronics and communications engineering and specialized knowledge in computer science before gaining 8 years of experience at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), India's premier civilian rocketry laboratory. The DRDO confirmed the successful flight test of the Agni-5 missile with MIRV technology under the banner of 'Mission Divyastra.' Launched from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha .

The Agni -5 missile, powered by a three-stage solid fuel engine, boasts a range exceeding 5,000 km. MIRVs, capable of carrying multiple warheads, pose greater destructive potential compared to conventional single-warhead missiles. (Image :ANI)
