Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde inaugurated the first phase between Worli and Marine Drive, dubbing it an “engineering marvel.”
The 10.5-km stretch is now open, with entry points at Worli Seaface, Haji Ali, and Amarson’s, and an exit at Marine Lines.
Initiated on October 13, 2018, the coastal road project is estimated to cost Rs 12,721 crore.
A Central Park named ‘Dharmaveer Sambhaji Maharaj Coastal Road’ is planned alongside the road.
The road, touted for its advanced construction, prioritizes safety, with phase two set to open in May.
The project includes the development of 175 acres of greenery, contributing to a 300-acre Central Park.
The 53-km road aims to save fuel and time, and reduce pollution.
