Union Minister and actress Smriti Irani was a finalist in the Miss India pageant in 1998.
She has a daughter, son, and stepdaughter Shanelle from her husband Zubin Irani’s previous marriage.
She made her acting debut with shows such as 'Aatish' and 'Hum Hain Kal Aaj Aur Kal'.
Her most prominent role was as Tulsi Virani in 'Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' on Star Plus in the mid-2000s.
When Smriti Irani left the hit show 'Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi', people suspected a fallout between Ekta Kapoor and Irani.
Irani joined the BJP in 2003 and in 2004 she was appointed as vice president of the Maharashtra Youth wing
In August 2011, Irani was sworn in as a member of the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat.
Smriti Irani recorded a historic win during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in UP’s Amethi constituency against Rahul Gandhi. She won by a margin of over 55,000 votes.
She has been a minister in the Union cabinet of India since 2014.
She has also written a novel titled ‘Lal Salaam’, published in 2021, inspired by the Maoist attack in April 2010 in Dantewada.
