The Rajasthan Assembly Elections occurred on Nov 25, with 199 out of 200 seats contested and vote counting taking place on Dec 3.
Among these, 25 seats are reserved for the Scheduled Caste, 34 for the Scheduled Tribes, and 141 for the General category.
Approximately 5.3 crore people were eligible to vote for the elections held on Nov 25.
The current assembly's term concludes in January 2024, contested primarily by the BJP and the incumbent Congress led by CM Ashok Gehlot.
Earlier, in 2018, Congress secured 99 seats, while BJP won 73. EC adjusted the original Nov 23 date due to concerns over conflicting social events.
The BJP, relying on group leadership and the popularity of PM Narendra Modi, aims to unseat the Ashok Gehlot-led government.
On the other hand, the Congress party seeks to retain power for another term.
The Election Commission is crucial in overseeing elections across the country, acting as the guardian body from announcing dates to declaring results.
