First things first: choose your hair-removal method and stick to it. If you're treating an area with lasers, don't wax there between appointments.
Grow hair to at least a ¼-inch, and don’t shave before waxing. The ideal time frame is 3-4 weeks and removing hair too soon can risk in-grown hairs or bumps.
Exfoliate a few days before waxing and in between waxing services to remove dead skin cells and minimize the chance of getting ingrown hairs or bumps as the new hair grows.
Wear loose clothing after hair removal to avoid irritation. Tight clothes will only aggravate the already tortured skin, so opt for breathable clothes.
Using an oil or lotion post-waxing can end up clogging your pores. Instead, opt for a post-waxing astringent or its handy alternative- ice cubes.
Use sunscreen daily to protect sensitive skin from tanning.
Avoid heat and sweating for at least 24 hours after waxing. This can irritate your skin even more, instead go for a cold shower.
Moisturize skin after waxing treatments to help replenish skin’s moisture barrier.
Most germs and bacteria are spread through hand contact. So avoid touching the waxed area for atleast 48 hours.
Sensitive skin does not make for a pleasant waxing experience. Do not schedule an appointment just before or after a day you plan to spend lots of time outside. If you get a sunburn, freshly waxed skin will be painful.
