Introduced in 2001, South Korea's menstrual leave policy allows female employees one day of unpaid leave per month.
Female employees in Vietnam are entitled to three days of menstrual leave each month, along with a 30-minute break each day during their menstrual cycle.
Japan has had a menstrual leave law since 1947. Women can request leave for as long as needed, although companies are not required to pay salaries during this time.
Taiwan's legislation, passed in 2013, grants female workers three days of paid menstrual leave per year.
Since 2015, Zambia has offered female employees one day of menstrual leave per month.
Spain became the first European country to offer paid menstrual leave.
In 2019 the Philippines enacted the Menstrual Leave Law giving female employees two days of paid menstrual leave per month.
