Select a young, thick leaf of aloe vera from a fully grown plant.
Rinse the leaf in cold water to get rid of any remaining particles or dirt.
With a knife, trim the leaf's prickly margins.
Using a spoon or knife, cut the leaf lengthwise and remove the translucent gel.
In a blender, combine the extracted gel and process until it becomes smooth.
Use cheesecloth or a fine mesh screen to filter the mixed gel for a smoother consistency.
The gel may be kept in the fridge for up to two weeks if it is transferred to a fresh, sealed container and kept there.
