Step 1

Prepare dough using whole wheat flour, salt, water, and knead it until smooth and elastic.

Cover dough and let it rest for 30 minutes to help it become soft and pliable.

Divide dough into equal portions and roll each portion into a round roti shape using a rolling pin.

Heat a tawa (flat pan) on medium heat and place the rolled roti onto the hot surface.

Cook one side until small bubbles form, then flip the roti to cook the other side.

Step 6

Using tongs, flip roti directly over a gas flame until it puffs and has charred spots.

Step 7

Brush the cooked tandoori roti with butter or ghee before serving hot with your favorite curry.
